At present, the department has 2 doctoral supervisors, 7 master supervisors, 6 professors and 6 associate professors.
In recent years, the department has attracted a large number of outstanding talents at home and abroad to join the strengthening specialist team and is committed to cultivating young and middle-aged physicians. Most of the talents introduced by our department are excellent foreign talents. There are 12 returnees who have studied in famous foreign nephrology specialists, and 2 are about to return, which is nearly 50% of the number of medical staffs.
The department has established long-term cooperation and exchanges with these foreign kidney disease research centers. Including: the Beckman Institute of Nephrology in the United States, Harvard University in the United States, Mayo Clinic in the United States, Columbia University in the United States, University of Louisville in the United States, Yonsei University in South Korea, etc.
At the same time, the department supports young and middle-aged doctors, nurses, and senior doctors to do further study in advanced units at home and abroad, and has sent them to Peking University First Hospital, PLA General Hospital, Nanjing Military Region General Hospital, and Sun Yat-Sen University Affiliated Hospital. It provided a platform for doctors to develop new technologies and treatments when they have finished their advanced studies. At present, the department has successfully carried out continuous blood purification, plasma exchange, established difficult vascular access, automated peritoneal dialysis, and a follow-up system for hemodialysis patients.
In teaching, the department actively trains young and middle-aged physicians, and has been awarded the Excellent Teaching and Research Section Secretary of The First Hospital of Jilin University for two consecutive years. Associate Professor Wu Hao won the Outstanding Teacher Award, Attending Physician Sun Tao and Attending Physician Hou Jie won the Outstanding Teaching Rising Star. In scientific research, Young and middle-aged doctors are encouraged to do scientific research. In recent years, they have won a number of national, provincial and school-level projects, and have published many papers in excellent journals at home and abroad.
