The department of pediatric rheumatology, immunology and allergy was founded in 2013. It is currently the only independent pediatric clinical immunology unit in Northeast China. It has professional and skilled experts with rich clinical experience. In recent years, the department has trained young technical backbone which has injected new vitality and development opportunities into the department.

There are 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, 3 master supervisors, 3 attending physicians, 1 resident physician. There are 33 beds, more than 1,600 patient are admitted and the number of outpatient visits is more than 10,000 each year,.

Since the establishment of the department, our department has continued to forge ahead with the concept of “scientific research is the cornerstone, teaching is the base, and medical treatment is the foundation”, and has made progress in clinical, scientific research and teaching. It has completed the construction of the first-line pediatric immunization specialist in China, and has become a regional center for the diagnosis and treatment of children’s immunization diseases. Currently, it is the deputy head unit of the Children’s Allergy Group of the Pediatric Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. And in 2018, it was awarded as an excellent department of The First Hospital of Jilin University in the subject evaluation.

Clinically, the department focuses on solving difficult diseases. In terms of rheumatic diseases, the treatment of allergic purpura, Kawasaki disease, severe lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, rheumatoid arthritis, Takayasu arteritis, scleroderma and other diseases has absorbed advanced achievements at home and abroad with distinctive features.

In the treatment and management of refractory cases, it has been at the leading level in China, and has taken the lead in developing children’s SLE hormone pulse therapy and JIA biologics individualized therapy in China with good results.

In allergy, the department has accumulated mature experience and theoretical knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment and management of allergic diseases of various systems and organs in children, and has strong scientific research capabilities in recent years.

In 2018, the department imported Phadia250, the only fully automatic UNI-CAP in vitro allergen detection system in Jilin Province, which is currently the internationally recognized golden standard for in vitro allergen detection. Equipped with microplate reader, ultrapure water meter, centrifuge and cryogenic cabinet and other equipment, a professional allergy and immunity research laboratory has been established. In terms of immunodeficiency diseases, the department has the ability to diagnose rare immunodeficiency diseases by systematically learning the PID knowledge system, mastering the clinical phenotypes of rare diseases, using the excellent experimental platform of the hospital  and carrying out close cooperation with domestic first-class PID specialists.

In scientific research, the department is clinical problem oriented, closely integrates the frontier hotspots of disciplines, and realizes the mutual transformation of clinical and scientific research. In the past two years, it has applied for nearly 4 million yuan of disposable scientific research funds and published more than 10 SCI papers. As a national medicine clinical trial base, there are currently 2 clinical trials of medicine under development. In recent years, Director Yang Sirui has been invited to write down talks with rheumatism experts, and participated in the formulation of consensus on diagnosis and treatment of many domestic rheumatism experts.
