The department attaches great importance to the clinical research of new medicine. In 2012, a professional base for medicine clinical trials was established with director in charge, all staff and full time doctor participated. Since its establishment, it has undertaken a total of 33 medicine clinical studies, and the progress and quality of clinical trials have been highly praised and recognized by the application unit and team leader unit. The department established a respiratory basic research laboratory in 2013, which was equipped with 3 full-time laboratory technicians who can independently complete most of the molecular biology and cytology experiments. In recent years, 89 SCI articles have been published; 175 projects have been obtained as the first person in charge, including 19 national-level projects, 98 Jilin provincial-level projects and 20 horizontal projects, the total applied project funds are over 29 million yuan.

The department is authorized for granting doctoral and master’s degrees, it has 7 doctoral supervisors and 21 master’s supervisors. The department is one of the first batch of excellent standardized training bases for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) specialists in China, and a standardized training base for national resident doctors.

While deeply improving the level of specialized diagnosis and treatment and precise treatment, it also advocates team medicine, focuses on multidisciplinary collaboration. It provides the most individualized and professional service for each patient through bringing together the expertise of experts from various disciplines, brainstorming and complementing each other’s advantages.
