Discipline dynamics

In 2011, the department firstly carried out liver transplantation with donor from cardiac death (DCD). In 2013, the Jilin University Liver Transplantation Center was established, which was based on the First Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. Now this transplantation center has developed into the largest liver transplantation center in terms of clinical treatment and scientific research in northeast of China. The center routinely conducts transplant surgeries, including adult DCD liver transplantation, living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for children as well as adults, split liver transplantation, complex liver transplantation, liver re-transplantation, salvage liver transplantation and other types of transplants. Up to now, more than 600 cases of liver transplantation have been conducted in this center, and rich clinical experience has been accumulated by our transplant surgeons. Now, this center has become one of the best liver transplantation centers in China and has written an epoch-making new chapter for the development of liver transplantation in northeast of China.
