The Department of Pathology of The First Hospital of Jilin University was established in 1972. In the past 50 years, the department has continued to grow and develop from the initial working mode of manual workshop to be with high-tech equipment and talents today. As the largest pathology department in AAA Hospital in Jilin Province, it took the lead in realizing the specialized pathology diagnosis work in China in 2007, set the clinical pathology diagnosis center in 2009, and became the medical quality control center of the pathology department of Jilin Province in 2011.

The Pathology Department of The First Hospital of Jilin University is located on the 6th floor of the Surgery Building. The department covers an area of 3,000 square meters. It is equipped with a comprehensive service window, Specimen Receiving, Gross Lab, frozen section production and diagnosis room, and routine production room, Immunohistochemistry Lab, Molecular Pathology Lab, Fluorescence Microscopy Lab, specialist diagnosis room, collective reading consultation room, trainees Studio, multi-function hall, archives, and a 300-square-meter storage room for slices and wax blocks in the basement to provide protection for all aspects of work. Most of all, comprehensive service window is open 365 days a year.
