Characteristics of Diagnosis and Treatment

The department has a relatively complete assessment and diagnosis system for neurodevelopmental disorders and psychological problems in children and adolescents. It has set up video electroencephalography (V-EEG), Integrated Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test (IVA-CPT),  Planning Attention Simultaneous Successive theory (PASS), Theoretical Cognitive Assessment System (CAS).

The department has formed a relatively complete rehabilitation system, including Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and Behavior Structure Relationship (BSR) rehabilitation theories and techniques; actively carries out psychological education and supportive treatment for parents of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ESDM and BSR parent training, intensive intervention, rehabilitation guidance and other rehabilitation models at different levels and in different ways, which have achieved good results. On the basis of rehabilitation intervention, the department actively explores the relationship between nutrition, especially vitamin D, K and ASD, and the use of vitamin D3 to treat ASD which has achieved certain results. The department took the lead in exploring the use of bumetanide in the treatment of autism in China. In recent years, preliminary results have been achieved in cognitive information processing, genetics and functional NMR research in ASD. It also focused on the development of the precise diagnosis and individualized precise treatment of ASD.

In the diagnosis and treatment of other neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tic Disorder (TD) and other diseases, the department adopts the three-combination model, medical (treatment)-school (school)-family (family), and has carried out standardized treatment of drug therapy and non-drug therapy, especially the New Forest Parenting Programme (NFPP), systematic executive function family group training, psychotherapy, and comprehensive behavioral intervention for tic disorders. The intervention system for neurodevelopmental disorders has been improved.
