The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of The First Hospital of Jilin University was established in 2011, which is the earliest and largest independent PICU in Jilin Province. It is a master and doctorate authorized discipline of Pediatric Medicine. At present, the PICU provides 30 beds for hospitalized critically ill children. There are about 9,000 outpatient visits and more than 1,200 inpatient visits to PICU every year. Now, the PICU has become a highly specialized medical, teaching and research center for pediatric critical care medicine in Jilin Province.

The department has successively won the title of “March 8 Red Flag Collective” in Changchun City, the title of “Excellent Unit in Medical Ethics Evaluation” and “the Department with Best Per Capita Contribution” of The First Hospital of Jilin University, and has won the honorary title of “Women Civilized Collective of Jilin University” for 9 consecutive years.
