The Department of Infectious Diseases of The First Hospital of Jilin University is one of the few departments in China that specializes in the clinical diagnosis, treatment and research of infectious diseases.

The scope of diagnosis and treatment includes various infectious diseases (such as central nervous system infection, respiratory system infection, hepatobiliary system infection, urinary system infection, skin and soft tissue infection, etc.) and communicable diseases (such as hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, AIDS, brucellosis, hand-foot-mouth disease, liver fluke disease, etc.). The department has carried out a large number of clinical and basic researches for the more common tick-borne diseases (Lyme disease, forest encephalitis) and brucellosis in Jilin Province, and has rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of fever of unknown origin.
