The Department of Ophthalmology of The First Hospital of Jilin University is an excellent team with sincere unity and harmony. Founded in 1960, with the joint efforts of all comrades in the general practice, the department of ophthalmology has continued to develop and expand, and the sub-specialty has been continuously completed, and the scope of treatment has reached an unprecedented wide range.

There are 53 beds in the Department of Ophthalmology, with an average annual admission of more than 5,000 patients. There are 8 professors, 13 associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, 10 master supervisors. The department has undertaken 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects, participated in 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects, and more than 30 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. The department has won more than 10 provincial and municipal scientific and technological progress awards, several medical achievement awards of Jilin University, and published more than 200 academic papers. It is an ophthalmology clinical medicine experimental observation base in Jilin Province.

Scope of ophthalmology diagnosis and treatment: corneal disease and corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease, orbital disease, glaucoma, cataract, myopia correction and refractive surgery, strabismus, amblyopia, thyroid-related eye disease, lacrimal duct disease, fundus disease (including retinal detachment, retinal blood vessels diseases such as: fundus lesions caused by diabetes, arteriosclerosis and hypertension, and pediatric retinopathy).
