The Department of Hematology is an early sub-specialty construction unit in China, with 6 sub-specialties including leukemia, lymphoma, stem cell transplantation, myeloma, benign blood diseases (including red blood cell diseases and hemorrhagic coagulation disease), myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic tumors .

The department is the only hematopoietic stem cell collection and transplantation center certified by China Marrow Bank in Jilin Province, and can performe all types of hematopoietic stem cell transplantations independently. Among them, unrelated donor transplantation filled the gap in Jilin Province, and umbilical cord blood transplantation filled the gap in the Northeast China. The annual number of transplantation case has reached 150, ranked first in Northeast China for 6 consecutive years.

The department has a powerful clinical laboratory, which is a international standard blood disease testing center. The laboratory is equipped with instruments which worth more than 30 million Yuan, and can perform the hematologic diagnostic test of bone marrow cell morphology, bone marrow pathology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular biology. Moreover, based on MICM, the department has established an accurate diagnosis, prognostic assessment and MRD monitoring system, as well as a relatively complete detection capability related to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, which plays a critical role in the diagnosis, prognosis evaluation and treatment of malignant hematologic diseases.
