The Second Department of Urology of The First Hospital of Jilin University is a key clinical specialty of the National Health Commission, and the only discipline in Jilin Province which is qualified to perform  kidney transplantation approved by the National Health Commission At present, being approved by the National Health Commission, it is now a national training base for kidney transplant physicians, a prostate cancer early diagnosis and treatment training base, a National Organ Donation and Transplantation Demonstration Center, a National Organ Donation and Transplantation Training Center, etc.

The department has the most complete set of urology subspecialties in Jilin Province, covering tumors, calculi, infection, obstruction and urinary control, male reproduction, pediatric urology, female urology, kidney transplantation, etc.

The department has general treatment areas and intensive care treatment areas, with 70 open beds. It also has ultrasound examination room, urinary system X-ray imaging examination room, cystoscopy examination room, urodynamic examination room and research room in the treatment area. The minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment technology of urological diseases and the related technology of kidney transplantation are the most prominent features of the department. Currently, the department has successfully carried out laparoscopic and endoscopic urological surgery independently, and the technology is mature.

Posterior laparoscopic surgery, Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, Retroperitoneal right donor nephrectomy with vena cava valve and autologous fascial stress urinary incontinence repair are also originally created in Jilin Province and has reached the domestic leading level.
