The Department of Burn and Wound Repair Surgery of the First Hospital of Jilin University is a professional department that integrates clinical, scientific research and teaching, consisting of burn surgery, burn plastic surgery, burn rehabilitation and burn research. It is a doctoral degree awarding point in surgery of Jilin University and a master degree awarding point in plastic and burn surgery. The department serves as the chairman unit of the Jilin Provincial Burn Surgery Branch and the Jilin Provincial Physician Association Burn Physician Branch. It has 74 beds and 48 staff members, including 4 master supervisors. Clinically, each subspecialty serves as the academic backbone of members of international societies. In the past 5 years, it has published 64 papers, 19 of which are included in SCI. It undertook 28 projects at all levels, including key projects of the International “Eleventh Five-Year” Science and Technology Plan, with the funding of 2 million yuan. It has won totally 32 awards, including second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2010, and Chinese Science and Technology Progress Awards.

The department’s professional work includes the treatment of critically ill patients such as large-area burns and electric shock injuries; proficient in the treatment of pressure ulcers, diabetic foot, skin infections and the repair of various acute and chronic skin defects with special diagnosis and treatment techniques; it specializes in comprehensive treatment of post-burn plastic surgery, functional reconstruction and scar, and has achieved good clinical and social benefits, and has been well received by the majority of patients; It has become a major public health event in the province and a regional center for wound repair of various serious skin infections.
