Introduction

The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the First Hospital of Jilin University (formerly the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the First Affiliated Clinical College of Bethune Medical University), established in 1989, is the first independent endocrinology department in Jilin Province that integrates medical practice, teaching, and scientific research, and is an advanced discipline at a leading position in the Jilin Province.

 

The department is also responsible for the provincial branch center of the National Standardized Metabolic Disease Management Center, the Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases, the Jilin Provincial Endocrine and Metabolic Disease Molecular Diagnosis and Treatment Engineering Laboratory, the Jilin Provincial Endocrine and Metabolic Disease Medical Quality Control Center, and the Jilin Provincial Individual A Platform for Precise Diagnosis and Treatment, the Remote Monitoring of Diabetes, and the Comprehensive Mobile Medical Management Platform.

 

Each year, the department receives over 70,000 outpatients and nearly 3,000 inpatients, and the bed utilization rate reaches 120%.

 

In the recent 10 years, the department has established a total of 120 scientific research projects, won 11 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in 4 major special projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology and 50 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. What’s more, our doctors and students have published over 400 papers, including over 100 SCI papers, and have spoken dozens of times at international and domestic large-scale conferences.

 

As the chairman unit of the Endocrinology Branch of Jilin Medical Association since 2016, the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the First Hospital of Jilin University has ranked second among the three northeastern provinces and first place in Jilin Province in the evaluation of large hospitals by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
