There are 24 doctors, 5 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 4 doctoral supervisors and 7 master supervisors in the department. They have undertaken more than 50 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, won more than 7 million yuan in scientific research funds, and published more than 230 academic papers and won 20 medical achievement awards. Totally 84 master students and 11 doctoral students have been trained. The department has held several large-scale national academic seminars and advanced laparoscopic training courses at the Endoscopy Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Training Base of the National Health Commission of the PRC. It also has undertaken the teaching work of undergraduates, international students and postgraduates for many years. The department attaches great importance to the cultivation of talent echelons, and strengthens exchanges with large-scale hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery centers at home and abroad. Many doctors have gone to the United States, Canada, Japan, and Germany for training and study. The department has an engineering laboratory for early diagnosis of liver cancer in Jilin Province, which has been equipped with a professional scientific research team, focusing on the transformation of clinical scientific research and the research on the combination of medicine and engineering.
