The department has been focusing on the development of new technologies and new therapies, and has successively introduced advanced technologies such as ECMO, PiCOO, and critical ultrasound into the treatment of critically ill patients, which has promoted the continuous improvement of the clinical diagnosis and treatment level of the medical team.
At the same time, relying on the technical backbone of the department, the department took the lead in establishing a diagnosis and treatment team for severely acute pancreatitis and multiple trauma MDT, and participated in the hospital transplant team, the multidisciplinary collaboration group that established by professional departments such as obstetrics and gynecology, hematology, etc. It has built a number of technical platforms for the treatment of critically ill patients and difficult diseases.
Relying on the academic influence over the years, the department successively established Jilin Provincial Health Management Society Emergency Medicine Professional Committee and the Emergency Medicine Alliance in July 2018 and Jilin Provincial Health Management Society Mechanical Ventilation Training Base;
In September 2020, the department established the Critical Care Ultrasound Group of the Emergency Medicine Professional Committee of the Jilin Provincial Health Management Society, as well as the Critical Care Medicine Professional Committee of the Jilin Provincial Hospital Management Committee and the Medical Alliance. The application of bedside technology has trained a large number of talents and technical backbones. Therefore, the department has trained a large number of talents and technical backbones to improve the technical level of mechanical ventilation and the application of ultrasound bedside technology in major hospitals in Jilin Province. In addition, based on years of training for professional and technical personnel in the province, the department has successively participated in the standardized training of cardiovascular medicine, respiratory medicine and emergency medicine.
In addition, the Emergency Medicine Teaching and Research Section, founded by Professor Wang Yushan in 1997, has been renamed as the Emergency and Critical Care Medicine Teaching and Research Section in 2021. The current director of the teaching and research section is Professor Zhang Dong. The teaching and research section is mainly responsible for the teaching of emergency medicine for undergraduates of the Bethune Medical Department.
With the support of the special fund of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the ICU ward was renovated to achieve positive and negative pressure transformation, and updated some instruments and equipment in June 2022, which has greatly improved the hardware conditions for the treatment of future infectious health events and critically ill patients with organ transplantation.
