Discipline dynamics
The current development goal of Bone and Joint Surgery is to realize the normalization, standardization and procedure of routine clinical work, to focus on the construction of departments and strengthen medical management, to make the discipline into a high-standard, high-quality, high-level “research-oriented” department.
The current clinical research focuses include:
1) Research and clinical application of bone and cartilage tissue engineering.
2) Basic and clinical research related to joint reconstruction surgery.
3) Basic and clinical research on bone tumors.
4) Basic and clinical research on children with congenital hip dislocation, sequelae of cerebral palsy, and congenital tibial pseudoarthrosis.
The applied basic research directions are orthopedic biomechanics, biomaterials and tissue engineering. It has taken the lead in carrying out a series of researches on orthopaedic biodegradable materials and bone and cartilage tissue engineering in China, some of which have reached the international advanced or domestic leading level.
The department has completed 1 “Ninth Five-Year” national key scientific and technological research project, 4 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 3 projects of the Ministry of Education, 1 project of “Jilin Province Outstanding Youth Scientific Research Project”, 1 project of the Ministry of Health and 1 project of Jilin Province, 2 key science and technology projects of the Provincial Planning Commission, 6 projects of the Jilin Provincial Department of Science and Technology, 2 projects of the Provincial Department of Health, and 8 horizontal joint projects.
