Mark of High-Quality Development | “Demonstration Base for Attracting Talents and Intelligence from Abroad” Settles in the First Hospital of Jilin University.

On the morning of July 11, 2023, the First Hospital of Jilin University held a plaque unveiling ceremony for the "Demonstration Base for Attracting Talents and Intelligence from Abroad" from the Ministry of Science and Technology. This demonstration base is the first of its kind in the medical field in Jilin Province.

Attending the ceremony were Liu，Baofang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Jilin Province and Director of the Jilin Foreign Experts Bureau; Wang, Yong, Director of the Foreign Experts Service Office of the Department of Science and Technology of Jilin Province, and Liu,Yuxin, Deputy Director of the same office; Lyu, Guoyue, Secretary of the Party Committee of the First Hospital of Jilin University; Liu,Bin, President of the hospital; Zhang,Songling, Vice President of the hospital; Professor Niu, Junqi from the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Medicine; Director Cui, Jiuwei from the Oncology Department; Zhang, Wenyuan and Li, Songhe, Deputy Directors of the Department of Scientific Research and Development ; Professor Lu, Jun from the Key Laboratory of Precision Medicine for Cerebrovascular Diseases; Professor Sun, Tianmeng from the Transplant Immunology Laboratory; Professor Wang, Yufeng from the Jilin University Cancer Research Institute; Professor Hu, Zheng from the Transplant Immunology Laboratory; Associate Professor Wang, Zedong from the Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory, and Associate Professor Guan, Qingtian from the Bioinformatics Laboratory. The ceremony was chaired by President Liu, Bin.

During the ceremony, Liu, Bin first extended a warm welcome to Liu, Baofang and her delegation. He expressed profound respect to the Department of Science and Technology of Jilin Province for their long-term guidance and assistance to the First Hospital of Jilin University and heartfelt gratitude to all the researchers for their dedicated efforts. The establishment of the demonstration base will further promote the high-quality development of various aspects of the hospital, particularly in the field of talent recruitment. Liu, Bin pointed out that the next step for the hospital is to use this base as a foundation to build an international platform for attracting talents in the medical field and promote international talent exchanges and cooperation, advancing medical research and disciplinary development.

Wang, Yong read the notification from the Ministry of Science and Technology regarding the approval of the establishment of the new demonstration base for the year 2023.

Zhang, Songling provided a detailed introduction to the expert team, construction foundation, development goals, and support mechanisms of the demonstration base.

Lyu, Guoyue said that talents are the most valuable asset of the hospital. Since the 1990s, the First Hospital of Jilin University has established overseas cooperation with Canada's Laval University. In the early 21st century, the hospital also initiated exchanges and collaborations in teaching, research, and talent development with renowned medical schools in the United States and other countries, providing opportunities for young physicians to broaden their horizons and enhance their abilities. Over the years, the hospital has been committed to cultivating high-level talents and building talent pipelines. Since 2021, Jilin University has been promoting innovation and reform in medical education, emphasizing the development strategy of "strengthening the hospital with talents, fostering innovation, and promoting openness." Talents are considered as a key element leading the future development of the hospital. Through various channels, the hospital actively trains and selects outstanding international talents at different levels to drive innovation and promote development, striving to build a world-class hospital. The approval of this demonstration base is a concrete implementation of the spirit of the Medical Education Coordination Meeting of the university. The First Hospital of Jilin University will continue to bring in more high-quality and high-end talents to Jilin Province and promote more talents to internationalize their careers.

Liu, Baofang congratulated the First Hospital of Jilin University on successfully obtaining the approval of the "Demonstration Base for Attracting Talents and Intelligence from Abroad" from the National Ministry of Science and Technology. She praised the hospital's contributions to serving local socio-economic development, technological research and expert technical breakthroughs, and attracting and nurturing overseas talents. She pointed out that the First Hospital of Jilin University is the fourth in Jilin Province to be approved as a national-level demonstration base, marking the national recognition of the hospital's achievements in domestic and international talent team building. Considering the national and provincial situation, she provided specific guidance and requirements for the future work of the newly established talent demonstration base from aspects such as institutional construction, innovative development, and guarantee systems. She hoped that the hospital will continue to establish a high-quality platform for attracting talents through various channels, retain and make good use of outstanding international talents, strengthen cooperation, optimize the environment for attracting more talents, establish an international platform, and make greater contributions to the province's scientific and technological innovation.
